BF&S Overview
Founded in 1961 by now retired Robert F. Butler, P.E., Ned R. Fairman and Clifford E. Seufert, P.E., L.S., BF&S initially specialized in bridge and road engineering. Our services included survey, design and construction inspection.
Over the years we’ve met the demand for new services by expanding our expertise, capabilities and professional staff. Highlights in our history include:
- 1966, Environmental, water and wastewater services added
- 1972, National Bridge Inspection Program Initiated, asset management services added
- 1982, a second office, in Merrillville, opened
- 1987, site development engineering services added
- 1993, design and construction engineering services for the aviation industry added
- 1994, Trails and Greenways, specialty added
- 2004, a third office, in Bluffton, opened
- 2005, a fourth office, in Jeffersonville, opened
- 2007, a fifth office, in Plainfield, opened
- 2008, a sixth office, in Lafayette, opened
Today Butler, Fairman and Seufert, Inc., with over 50 Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Landscape Architects, Architecture Historians and technical support staff of about 140, stands as a premier full-service civil engineering firm. We are well known for our depth of technical expertise and responsive client services. We are committed to earning that reputation on every job.
