North Wastewater Treatment Plant Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Mitigation

Plainfield, IN
Town of Plainfield

Summary:

The CSO mitigation project is a key component of the Town’s Long Term Control Plan to treat and disinfect CSO flows. It incorporates advanced technologies, including pile cloth filtration disk filters and ultraviolet disinfection, while addressing challenges such as stream hydraulics, electrical service size, generator replacement, and process automation. The design repurposes space from abandoned structures to fit within a compact site. Focusing on effective pass-through CSO treatment, the project avoided the costs of detaining and treating flows, resulting in nearly $280,000 in savings. Of this, $80,000 funded additional improvements identified during construction, while the remaining $200,000 was returned to the Owner.
