Hobart Main Lift Station & Forcemain GSC
Hobart, IN
City of Hobart & Hobart Sanitary District
Summary:
The Sanitary Sewer System Improvements project included constructing a 30-inch redundant forcemain and upgrading the Hobart Main Lift Station from 14 million gallons per day (MGD) to 28 MGD peak capacity. Upgrades encompassed pump and valve replacements, stainless steel header piping, a dual forcemain manifold, VFDs for four 385-hp pumps, electrical building expansions, and HVAC replacements. The four-mile-long redundant forcemain, running parallel to the existing 24-inch line, connects to the Gary sanitary sewer system, increasing capacity and providing critical redundancy. These improvements allow maintenance of the original 1985 forcemain while keeping operations online. The project enhanced reliability, supported continued growth, and ensured uninterrupted wastewater service for the community.
