Plainfield Downtown Redevelopment

Summary:

The Town of Plainfield embarked on a Downtown Redevelopment that included planning efforts which embraced public comment and input from professionals to protect the long-term sustainability of the historic downtown. Plainfield was able to utilize alternative procurements for Town and Developer driven projects to enhance its downtown area. Improvements included a multi-use developer driven project, Parking Structure; Civic Center that included a Government Center and 600-seat Performing & Fine Arts Center; roadway reconstruction; and lighting, utility, and pedestrian enhancements. The Program has turned the area into a multi-functional government, community, business, and arts district that acts as the heart of the Town’s center.
